Thursday of Easter Week 7 – Devotion

Text: Revelation 22:12–14, 16–17, 20–21

We’re a people who wait—waiting for news, for answers, for change. But waiting can be wearisome, especially when it feels like nothing is happening. Does Jesus still see us? Will He really return?

Revelation ends not with ambiguity but with a bold and repeated promise from Jesus: “Surely I am coming soon.” This is no vague hope—it’s a certain future. Christ will return to judge and to restore. He is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. Those who “wash their robes”—a reference to being cleansed by His sacrifice—are welcomed into the city of God, to the tree of life, and to the water of life.

This passage brings the whole biblical story full circle: from the loss of Eden to the restoration of all things in Christ. It is a final invitation, and the Spirit and the Bride still say, “Come.” This is not just a call to the unbelieving, but to the Church—to live in readiness, to thirst for Him, to long for His appearing.

If you’re tired of waiting, take heart. You haven’t been forgotten. Let this promise awaken your hope: Jesus is coming soon. Live today with anticipation, not anxiety. Love His appearing. Invite others to come and drink of the water of life freely.

Transform Our Hearts Through Prayer

Come, Lord Jesus! Thank You that You are faithful to Your promises and that our hope is secure in You. Forgive us when we grow weary or distracted. Holy Spirit, stir our hearts with holy longing. Keep us watchful, joyful, and faithful until Christ returns. Amen.
