Thursday of Easter Week 5 – Devotion

Text: Revelation 21:1–6

We all carry wounds—some fresh, some old. The world can feel like a place of unending sorrow, where joy is fleeting and healing elusive. But God gives us a future that rewrites our story: a world made new.

In Revelation 21, John sees “a new heaven and a new earth.” The sea—often a symbol of chaos—is gone. God dwells with His people, and every tear is wiped away. Death, mourning, crying, and pain will be no more. This isn’t escapism. It’s the true hope of resurrection. The One seated on the throne declares, “Behold, I am making all things new” (v. 5). This promise is anchored in Jesus—the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end—who offers the water of life to all who thirst.

This vision lifts our eyes from despair. It doesn’t minimize pain, but it places it in a larger, redemptive story. In Christ, our brokenness is not the final word.
Let the hope of renewal shape how you live today. Pursue healing, even if it’s slow. Choose forgiveness, even when it’s hard. Work for beauty and justice, even in small ways. You belong to the One who is making all things new—starting with you.

Transform Our Hearts Through Prayer
Alpha and Omega, You are the beginning and the end. Thank You for the promise that all things—even our pain—will be made new in You. Heal our hearts and restore our hope. Holy Spirit, help us to live today in light of eternity, with courage, joy, and trust in Your faithfulness. Amen.
