Tuesday of Easter Week 7 – Devotion

Text: Psalm 97

In a world full of confusion and moral chaos, we long for clarity—for a sense that right and wrong still matter and that justice will ultimately prevail. But sometimes, it feels like wickedness goes unchecked and truth is whatever people say it is.

Psalm 97 reminds us that the Lord reigns. His rule is not up for debate, and it’s not threatened by the schemes of men. "Clouds and thick darkness are all around Him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne." The psalmist declares that idols will be put to shame and that light will shine on the righteous. In a world full of competing voices, God's Word is a fire that consumes falsehood.

This is a royal psalm, celebrating God's kingship over all the earth. It was sung in temple worship, and today it still calls us to joyful reverence and holy awe. In Christ, we see the full revelation of this King—righteous, powerful, and near.

When you're tempted to fear the chaos of the world or to lose hope in the face of evil, remember: the Lord does reign. You may not see all justice fulfilled yet, but the King is on His throne. Live today in light of that truth. Hate evil. Love righteousness. Rejoice in the Lord who will make all things right.

Transform Our Hearts Through Prayer

Almighty God, You reign in power and justice. Thank You that Jesus is the righteous King who rules in truth and love. Forgive us when we doubt or give in to fear. Holy Spirit, help us to live with courage, to love what is good, and to rejoice in Your justice. Amen.
