Thursday of Easter Week 6 – Devotion

Text: Revelation 21:10, 22—22:5

In a world marked by exhaustion and darkness—both emotional and literal—we often long for rest and for light that doesn’t fade. Our souls crave a home where peace and beauty last, and where sorrow finally ends.

In this vision from Revelation, John is shown the New Jerusalem, not just as a city, but as the perfected dwelling of God with His people. There is no temple because God and the Lamb are its temple. There is no sun or lamp because the glory of God gives it light. And there is no curse, because the throne of God reigns over it all. In Eden, humanity lost access to the Tree of Life; here, that tree appears again, its leaves healing the nations.
This is the fulfillment of every longing. The wounds of history are healed, and we are home—with God, forever. Christ, the Lamb, has made this possible by taking the curse upon Himself.

This vision is not just about the future. It shapes how we live now. We live as children of light, not darkness. We resist the pull of despair because we know the end of the story. We seek rest, healing, and worship, knowing that one day all will be restored.

Transform Our Hearts Through Prayer
Lord Jesus, You are the light of the world and the Lamb who takes away our sin. Thank You for preparing a place where we will see Your face. Holy Spirit, help us to live today in the light of eternity—with hope, joy, and a heart full of worship. Amen.
