Friday of Easter Week 2 – Devotion

Text: John 20:19–31

Doubt is not rare—it’s real. We all have moments when faith feels thin, when God feels far, and when questions swirl louder than answers. The good news? Jesus meets us there.

On Easter evening, the disciples are behind locked doors, gripped by fear. Jesus comes, not in rebuke, but with peace. He shows them His hands and side—the marks of crucifixion still visible. It is in those wounds that peace comes. Thomas, famously absent that night, won’t believe until he sees. And when Jesus returns a week later, He doesn’t shame Thomas. He invites him to touch, to see, to believe. Then He speaks to us: “Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

John writes this gospel so that we may believe and have life in Jesus’ name. This is not blind faith—it is honest trust rooted in eyewitness testimony, in scars that prove love. Jesus doesn’t ask us to deny our doubts, but to bring them to Him. And in His presence, questions don’t disappear—but they are reshaped by love.

So, bring your doubts. Name them. Pray them. Read the Scriptures even when it feels dry. Talk with a friend who believes. Show up to worship. Let Jesus meet you behind your locked doors. And believe—not because you have all the answers, but because He has you.

Transform Our Hearts Through Prayer

Risen Christ, You did not turn away from Thomas. You welcomed his doubt with mercy. Welcome us too. When our faith wavers, hold us fast. When we cannot see, remind us of Your wounds, Your Word, and Your love. Holy Spirit, grant us grace to believe and to find life in Jesus' name. Amen.
