Thursday of Easter Week 3 – Devotion

Text: Revelation 5:1–14

We long for someone who is truly worthy—worthy of our trust, our devotion, our hopes. So many leaders disappoint us. So many causes fall short. Is there anyone who can hold the story of history—and our lives—together?

In Revelation 5, John sees a scroll in God's hand—sealed and waiting. This scroll represents the plan of God for judgment, redemption, and the renewal of all things. But no one is found worthy to open it, and John weeps. Then, an elder says, “Weep no more; behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah… has conquered.” John turns—and sees not a lion, but a slain Lamb. This Lamb is Jesus, who was crucified and raised. The heavenly court erupts in worship: “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain!” (v. 12). He alone is able to unfold history’s meaning because He gave Himself in love.

This vision reframes everything. The world may seem to spin in chaos, but Jesus is at the center—both lion and lamb, power and sacrifice. His worthiness is not just theological; it’s personal. He is worthy of your trust, your surrender, your song.

So lay down your striving. You don’t have to prove yourself. Jesus is worthy in your place. Offer your life to Him again today. Sing to Him. Speak of Him. Surrender to Him—not because He demands it, but because He has already given everything for you.

Transform Our Hearts Through Prayer
Worthy Lamb, You gave Your life to redeem ours. Forgive us when we try to control our own story. Teach us to trust that You are opening the scrolls of our lives with love and wisdom. Holy Spirit, lead us into worship that flows from awe and gratitude. Let our lives be a chorus of praise to the One who is worthy. Amen.
