Friday of Easter Week 3 – Devotion

Text: John 21:1–19

Many of us carry secret shame—mistakes we can’t undo, moments that haunt us. Even after forgiveness, we wonder: Can God still use me? Am I still called?

John 21 gives us the tender post-resurrection story of Peter. He had denied Jesus three times, and the guilt surely crushed him. After the resurrection, he goes back to fishing—perhaps unsure if he still belongs in Jesus’ mission. Then Jesus appears on the shore, cooks breakfast, and asks Peter three times: “Do you love me?” With each affirmation, Jesus responds, “Feed my sheep.” Jesus doesn’t cancel Peter—He restores him. He doesn’t ignore the failure but rewrites it in grace.

This is Easter redemption. The risen Christ does not just forgive our past; He recommissions us for the future. Our calling is not based on our performance but on His mercy. Jesus still calls broken people to follow Him—and to love others as He loved us.
If you’ve failed, don’t hide. Come to the shore. Hear His question: “Do you love me?” Say yes, even through tears. Then get back in the boat of service. Feed His sheep. Care for someone today. Speak His name. And know: grace has not just covered your past—it has recommissioned your future.

Transform Our Hearts Through Prayer
Risen Jesus, You meet us in our failure and speak words of restoration. Thank You that our calling is not canceled by our sin. Heal the places in us that still feel unworthy. Holy Spirit, help us love You more, and to serve others out of that love. Make us shepherds after Your heart. Amen.
