Monday of Easter Week 4 – Devotion

Text: Acts 13:15–16, 26–39

We live in a culture that prizes credentials. Whether it’s a résumé, a diploma, or a platform, we’re constantly trying to prove our worth. But when it comes to the deepest issues—sin, guilt, mortality—no human credential is enough. We need something better than approval. We need a Savior.

In Acts 13, Paul preaches in a synagogue and connects the dots of Israel’s story to Jesus. He shows that from David to John the Baptist, God was orchestrating history to bring forth the promised Savior. Paul announces that this Jesus was rejected, executed, and raised from the dead—and that through Him, we can receive the “forgiveness of sins” and be “freed from everything from which you could not be freed by the law of Moses” (v. 39). The word “freed” can also be translated “justified”—a declaration that you are righteous in God’s sight, not by works, but by grace.

This is the heart of Easter: not moral reform or religious effort, but resurrection and justification. Your record doesn’t make you worthy. Jesus’ record—His death and resurrection—does. That’s what sets you free.

So stop trying to earn what Christ already secured. When shame whispers, point to the empty tomb. When pride puffs up, remember it’s all grace. Celebrate your justification—by resting in it, rejoicing in it, and living like someone who’s been truly set free.

Transform Our Hearts Through Prayer
Lord Jesus, You are the Savior we could never become on our own. Thank You for freeing us by Your death and resurrection. Teach our hearts to rest in the justification You’ve won. Holy Spirit, keep us from both pride and despair. Let us live each day as those made right by grace. Amen.
