Friday of Easter Week 6 – Devotion
Text: John 14:23–29
Change can be frightening. Whether it’s the end of a relationship, the loss of a job, or even a positive transition like graduation or moving, we often feel unmoored. We want stability, someone to guide us.
In John 14, Jesus is preparing His disciples for His departure. They are troubled, confused, and afraid. But Jesus promises them peace—not as the world gives, but His own peace. And He promises the Holy Spirit, who will teach and remind them of all He said. The world’s peace depends on circumstances; Jesus’ peace rests on His presence.
The Spirit becomes the continual presence of Jesus in the lives of His followers. He is not just a helper in theory—He is God with us, within us. That’s how Jesus can say, “Let not your hearts be troubled.”
Are you in the middle of change right now? Are you anxious about the unknown? Take heart—Jesus has not left you alone. Through the Spirit, He is closer than you know. Ask Him to make His peace real in your heart, and trust that He will guide you one step at a time.
Transform Our Hearts Through Prayer
Jesus, You are our peace. Thank You for not leaving us as orphans, but for sending the Holy Spirit. Forgive us for our fear and restlessness. Holy Spirit, dwell in us richly. Teach us, remind us, and fill us with the peace that passes understanding. Amen.
