Confirmation

For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God,
which is in you through the laying on of my hands,
for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control (2 Timothy 1:6-7).
Confirmation is the moment when the Church publicly affirms, blesses, and strengthens you for a life of Christian discipleship and ministry. In this ancient practice—rooted in the ministry of the Apostles—the Bishop lays hands on each candidate and prays that the Holy Spirit would deepen their faith, empower their gifts, and steady them for the work God has prepared for them (Acts 8:14–17; 2 Timothy 1:6–7).

Christians have always sought this milestone as a way of saying, “I’m ready to follow Jesus with clarity, conviction, and commitment.” At Prince of Peace, the expectations for Confirmation match those of Membership: worshiping together, growing in holiness, telling others the good news of Jesus Christ, and participating in the life of our church family.

If you’re looking to take the next step in your faith, Confirmation is a meaningful and historic way to say yes to God’s call on your life.

Request to Participate in Confirmation

Those seeking confirmation or membership at Prince of Peace should fill out the Confirmation/Membership Form below. This form helps us determine where to start you in the confirmation or membership process. A pastor or staff person can assist you with general questions before or after Sunday worship, or you can call the church during the week (321-253-9102).

Guided Learning

In addition to the self-guided learning, you’re invited to join us on Sundays from 10:15–10:45 AM for Coffee, Culture & Catechism—a relaxed, conversational space between services where confirmands discuss what they’re learning, ask questions, and explore how faith intersects with real life.
Each confirmand is also paired with a sponsor who prays for you, encourages you, and walks with you during the process. Confirmation is not a journey you take alone—it’s supported, guided, and rooted in community.

Pastoral Review

The Pastoral Review is a gathering of confirmands, sponsors, and pastors to celebrate the completion of the Guided Learning and Community Integration. Personal testimonies and learning highlights are shared for mutual encouragement. Confirmands may sign the Membership Covenant in anticipation of Confirmation.

Confirmation

Confirmands are confirmed by Bishop Alex during his annual visit to Prince of Peace. The Bishop meets with confirmands prior to the Sunday service to explain the rite, offer encouragement, and answer questions. During the Sunday service, the bishop lays hands on each confirmand and prays:

"Defend, O Lord, this your servant with your heavenly grace, that s/he may continue yours for ever, and daily increase in your Holy Spirit more and more until s/he comes into the fullness of your everlasting kingdom. Amen."
